Putting things in boxes

Now that we are underway, let’s summarize the move so far. First: packing!

Ashli started the packing off early in July while I finished up my work in the lab. The former caused some minor freak-out among the furrier members of the household, making them even weirder than usual. Doppler moved his bed to the middle of the kitchen to better keep an eye on the peculiar behavior of the humans. Jasper did the same from a somewhat closer vantage.

Once I finished up at the lab, we both got to packing in earnest. Interspersed with filling boxes, we made the rounds and said our farewells. Around the same time, Ashli signed up with Ad-hoc Committee for Teachers as Professionals (c-TaP), which had her traveling all over the country during our last few weeks in Seattle. Once we were both in the same place, the POD arrived and Ashli embarked on the ultimate game of Tetris. Spider-George found this to be an ideal place to spin his web.

The POD was filled to capacity despite our efforts to donate, sell, or dispose a large fraction of our possessions (including our bedroom and dining room sets!). We would like to give a big thanks to Jim and Linda for their help with last minute house projects and clean up during the last days of the packing process (and our first day of travel). We wouldn’t have departed on time with you!
