Journey complete

Today we picked up the keys to our new home.

The place is sort of quirky with a big, odd layout. Most of the doors don't quite close right, and there are a few odd beams and boards that we haven't quite figured out yet. In other words, just what I would expect from a house that is probably 4 times my age.

With the island touring that we have been doing overthrow past couple of days, the trip totalled just over 4,000 miles!

While the trip is over for us, stay tuned to the blog. I am in the process of sorting and editing the photos from the various legs of the journey. As they come together I will be updating the blog with detailed accounts of each portion.

Rental house acquired!

With our arrival in Bar Harbor looming, we finally managed to secure a rental house in Bar Harbor. The place is an updated and expanded 1800s farmhouse 3 miles outside of downtown Bar Harbor. No more 40 minute commute for me! We won't be able to move in until sometime within the next week. Apparently the last tenants allowed the oil furnace to run completely dry, and repairs and cleanup are under way.

Here are some pictures courtesy of Dan Gatti at JAX, who checked the place out for us last week (while the ad is still up, you can also see the description here: http://www.lsrobinson.com/rentals/search/index.php3?display=property&property=569).

3K

We are just finishing up our second and final 8 hour driving day of the trip and crossed the 3,000 mile mark. Today we have seen Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The states are rapidly shrinking as we progress! We are now approaching the New York state line and will spend the evening in Lake Erie State Park.

Ohio!

You are lacking a welcome sign. We feel unloved.
